Learn more about the Progymnasmata and the Classical Writing Method

Course Description:

Offered for Academic Year 2010-2011 ~ Beginning essay analysis and writing instruction offered to students 7th grade and up. This two semester course will cover the Maxim level of the Progymnasmata, and apply it to the modern five paragraph essay, using Classical Writing's Diogenes: Maxim. This is a twenty week course, beginning mid-September and ending mid-March.

Students should be at least 7th graders who have completed Homer. If you have any questions about your student's readiness for this course, please email the tutor.

Meeting Time:

Class meeting time is Tuesday from 2:00-2:50 PM, EST.

Materials Needed:

*Diogenes: Maxim

*Harvey's Student Workbook II (optional, but recommended)

*Harvey's Answer Key II (optional, but recommended)

Harvey's Elementary Grammar (order from Bookstore)

*Classical Writing materials will be offered to class participants at our 20% co-op discount. Orders will be placed around July 15, 2010. Registered students will receive details via email when it is time to order.

**These two books will be available this summer in beta format to students enrolled in the tutorial class.
