Course Description:

Beginning essay analysis and writing instruction appropriate for students 8th grade and up. This course covers the Chreia level of the Progymnasmata, teaching advancing essay analysis and culminating in the modern expository essay, and using Classical Writing's Diogenes: Chreia. This is a twenty week course, with a recorded class session for each week. Because this is a recorded class, your student can work at a slower or faster pace if desired. We have made the subscription period 9 months to allow for this.

Students should be at least rising 7th graders, and should have completed Classical Writing's Diogenes: Maxim or the equivalent. If you have any questions about your student's readiness for this course, please email the tutor.

Recorded Class Meetings:

Each recorded class meeting is approximately 50 minutes.

Cost:

Total cost for a 9 month subscription is $100, which includes access to the class page where you will find many helpful links and information.

Note: The Student Guide and Answer Keys for CoOps are not available in the regular Classical Writing bookstore. Once you have subscribed and paid, you will be given instructions to place  your order. You may also order other Classical Writing materials at a 20% discount with these books, including the course text listed above and the optional Harvey's Grammar workbooks and answer keys listed below.

Literature Assignments:

Optional but highly recommended literature assignments will also be scheduled for the students.  All of the literature assignments are available either online or at your local library. For those who prefer to purchase the books for their home library, you can see order the literature selections by going to the Tutorial Bookstore for Literature and visiting the Chreia page.
