Course Description:

This class is an overview covering all of Classical Writing's Diogenes: Maxim and Diogenes: Chreia, our beginning essay analysis and writing courses in four live classes. This course is perfect for students who need to cover the intermediate levels of Classical Writing before beginning Herodotus. It is also excellent teacher training for home educators as well as co-op and private school teachers.

The course was originally taught in the summer of 2011 over four weeks to high school students and home educators, but this pace can be modified to meet the needs of the student. A younger student, or one less experienced in writing, may stretch this course out to 8 weeks, 12 weeks, or even a full semester if necessary.

Students should be at least rising 9th graders, and should have completed Classical Writing's Homer or the equivalent. If you have any questions about your student's readiness for this course, please email the tutor.

Recorded Class Meetings:

Each recorded class meeting is approximately 2 hours.

Homework Assignments:

Before the first class, and after each class, assignments are given in the included Student Guide PDF to prepare for the upcoming class and to practice the concepts covered in the previous class. Answer keys and editing checklists are included in the PDF to help the teacher at home with the task evaluating the students' work. If additional assistance is required, Classical Writing Tutorials offers an Evaluation Service for student writing projects. This service is available at a discounted rate while students are in the subscription period for any Classical Writing Tutorials course.
